The doughnut…or is it donut? We are not exactly sure and are not about to have that debate at this time. Established in 2015 the Donut project can be considered the relative newcomer to the list. With doughnuts such as the ‘Strawberry Milkshake’ and the sweet & savory ‘Everything Donut’ which has a sweet cream cheese glaze and everything topping, The Doughnut project should be praised for pushing the limits of what is considered a traditional doughnut.

Dun-Well Doughnuts

Established in 2011, Dun-Well probably does the best job of combining the dynamic duo of coffee and doughnuts. Their doughnuts are artisanal and the coffee is all locally roasted. With locations in the Lower East Side as well as Williamsburg, Dun-Well fulfills the ‘hip’ factor of doughnuts shops and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

The Donut Pub

Opened in 1964 by an ex-Wall Street trader you can consider the Donut Pub the OG of NYC Donut shoppes. Open 24 / 7 and frequented by chefs such as Alex Guarnaschelli you can rest assured they are doing something right. With simple names such as the “Sugar Ring” and “Chocolate Cake” the Donut Shop is unassuming and doesn’t add complexity where it is sometimes not needed.
